A Big Bear Tiny Cabin Weekend with Getaway

Reconnecting and recharging in nature to what matters the most is more important than ever these days. News, noise, advertisements, social media, emails, alerts, reminders, and busy schedules can chip away at our health and overall well being. And the people at Getaway are not only mindful of it, but they also created outposts of tiny cabins a short distance outside of major cities in the United States to support city dwellers to take a break and have some space to return to oneself in peace and with only what one truly needs.

I had the pleasure of staying in a Getaway Cabin a couple of hours outside of Los Angeles in their Big Bear location. Technically it’s located in Running Springs, CA which is approximately 17 miles from the heart of Big Bear Village, but this proximity gives you an opportunity to be close enough to go to skiing or seek entertainment if you really need it and far enough away to be enveloped in expansive and peaceful nature.

I chose to visit in early December after the mountain experienced its first snowfall of the season and left the forest floor coated with a thin layer of a beautiful white blanketing. It made both the views from inside the cabin as well as nature walks outside that much more idyllic and cozy. Unfortunately, we were still in the post forest fire no-burn period and couldn’t make a campfire, but the setting and peace and quiet offered plenty of pleasure and relaxation.

If you are in need of hearing your own thoughts and having quality time alone this is the Getaway for you. If you are interested in getting closer, building intimacy, or re-connecting to a loved one, having fun with your pup or children, this will do it.

If you want to catch up on books you’ve always wanted to read, finally work on your novel, meditate, get some fresh air, do a little restorative yoga, try a new recipe, journal, clear your head, put your hiking boots to good use, make the best smores you’ve ever made, catch up on sleep, write thank you or thinking of you cards, stare up at the night sky, watch out for shooting stars, lay around in a hammock, listen for the sounds of birds, practice your landscape photography, or do absolutely nothing at all, this tiny cabin in the woods will help you do just that.
