In a dream and yet still awake

I'm seated in a deep roomy chair in the restaurant on the 41st floor of the Park Hyatt in Tokyo. It's gray outside but the tone feels perfect.

My calming tea with pink rose, chamomile and lavender has just been served and I hear the score to American Beauty playing above me. I feel like I'm floating in a dream, but yet still awake. There seems to be air under every part of me.

My waitress smiles and it sends me looking out the floor to ceiling window to take in the wide view of the city. Tokyo, so very special. My heart hums with gratitude. The light feels golden.

The warm tea is soothing and as I take in the aromatics I feel energy buzzing across my chest and through my limbs. My body is tired and yet fully awake. I notice all the subtle sounds moving through the space around me; the spoons resting on saucers, the tear of paper, whispers across the table. I'm trying to keep it in my ears. I don't want to forget any of it.

What will come of the afternoon, I have no idea. I'm pleased to stay present in this moment of grace - to sip my hot tea, savor the floral notes and breathe in the moment.

gratefully.
